This was a fun project and the vice works really well it has 2 leadscrews the large surface area keeps things secure without marring them

I use a very easy and inexpensive gear generating program http://woodgears.ca/gear_cutting/template.html
it was 26.00 and exports dxf for machining.

Thanks for the link Brian. Excellent way to keep your bench clamp parallel. Really like your butterfly joints too.

Thanks Brian.
I use the free hpgl download feature, but I didn't realize it was so cheap.
There's also http://gearotic.com/ for wierdo shaped, and oval gears which is kinda cool!

Love the stuff that Mathias does on wooden gears.  Cool guy there.

Love your workbench too.

This forum is getting off to a wonderful start - such exciting stuff going on here.

What a refreshing place to be.

Beautiful and practical is a great combination.  I definitely want to make some working gears on something....eventually a big iris. Very nice!

That is awesome! I'm quickly trying to come up with a project that needs gears so I can try this out, might have to do a sample piece.
